Animal Assisted Intervention
Why use animal therapy?
Animal assisted intervention has been shown to have significant benefits to learners. Animals break down barriers and as such support mental wellbeing by reducing anxiety, enhancing learning, improving social skills, fostering empathy and providing comfort.
They help to regulate behaviour, evoke positive memories and promote engagement across a range of settings. Time with animals can offer young people the opportunity to decompress, relax and reset.
Interaction with animals has been shown to boost reading ages and be an effective tool for talking therapies.
